There’s a beautiful kind of alchemy between Denmark and Japan. We’re half a planet apart. We didn’t say ‘hej’ (or ‘こんにちは’) to each other until 1867. And yet when we did, it was the most natural thing in the world.
Our traditions in design and craftsmanship (some might say they’re obsessions) turned out to be as suited to each other as coffee and chocolate … and we’ve spurred each other on ever since.
That’s why we’re so proud of The Bookshelf: it’s a perfect marriage of East and West. Of science and hand-crafted beauty. Of real wood and captivating emotion.
This exclusive premium loudspeaker is made from sustainable Japanese oak, sourced from the beautiful Hokkaido area in the north of Japan. Its flawless cabinet was conceived by the award-winning designers at Keiji Ashizawa Design in Tokyo. And it’s been hand-made by devoted craftsmen and women in Gifu using traditional techniques and painstaking finish-application.
The whole thing is brought together, tuned and fettled by Dynaudio’s world-class acoustic engineers in Denmark. We’ve been making high-end, high-performance loudspeakers since 1977, with one single-minded focus: to reproduce exactly what the artist wants you to hear. Nothing more, nothing less.
We’ve spent months fine-tuning The Bookshelf. We’ve used cutting-edge simulation tools, our world-class Jupiter testing facility, hundreds of years of collective expertise – and the most important measuring tool of all: our ears.
